Somalia’s militants ban Smartphones
Somalia’s al-Qaeda linked group al-Shabaab banned residents in the towns under their control to use Smartphones.
Residents in Barawe, Buula-burte and Elbur told media that the militants warned any person found using Smartphones would be punished.
Al-Shabab said that the Smartphones have advanced features and may be used of spying for the Western Nations. They believe that the Smartphones may simplify the attacks against their leaders.
Since the failed raid against top al-Qaeda leader in Brawe last month and the drone attack that killed to al-Shabab commanders in Jilib town, the militants begun pressuring residents.
Two weeks before, al-Shabab banned residents from watching TV’s.
