Somalia government evacuates 95 Somali nationals from Yemen

 

Somalia government has today evacuated 95 Somali nationals from Yemen as part of the government efforts to evacuate its citizens from the war- ravaged nation.

Somalia State Minister Abdi Rashid Hidig told the media that the government in collaboration with Aid agencies in Yemen managed to evacuate several Somalis trapped in the capital Sanaa with thousands more waiting.

“There are still thousands of Somalis trapped in Yemen and we are doing our best to ensure they are all safely and transported home”, he said.

According to UNHCR, they are more than 300,000 Somalis living in Yemen either as refugees, Students or workers. Thousands arrived by boats in the recent months in the port town of Bosaaso.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen has left many people homeless with many more trying to escape the violence.
